The Kylesmorar ExperienceKylesmorar offers a truly unforgettable highland castaway experience. Accessible only by boat or on foot, the small croft houses nestle below the towering mountains of North Morar, almost on the shores of Loch Nevis. Click play and turn on sound for a taste of the atmosphere around the "Loch of Heaven"
“Coming back across the loch after a three hour hike and seeing the thin column of smoke from the chimney and knowing that soon we’d be warm and cosy by the fire was the highlight of our trip"
On the quieter days, small estate boats may be available to explore the upper regions of the loch or to check the Kylesmorar lobster pots for supper. For the less energetic, take time to enjoy a long lie and a leisurely breakfast before taking a walk down to the shore to search for clams for your lunch. Speak to the Estate staff to see whether fresh vegetables and free range eggs are available from the kitchen garden and settle down with a book in front of the fire for a quiet afternoon as your dinner slowly roasts in the oven.
“Getting up early, pulling on wellies and going down to the shore with a bucket to gather clams for lunch seemed such a treat”
Weather permitting, the Estate boat can take you to Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula to enjoy an exhilarating walk of the surrounding area and/or have lunch at one of the remotest public houses in Britain, before returning in the afternoon to Kylesmorar on the MV Western Isles. However you choose to spend your time at Kylesmorar, we’re sure that it will be an unforgettable experience
