Accessible only by boat or on foot…
Kylesmorar are small restored croft houses nestle below the towering mountains of North Morar; almost on the shores of Loch Nevis.
Click play and turn on sound for a taste of the atmosphere around the “Loch of Heaven” (the translation of the Gaelic; Loch Nevis)
Whether you decide to take a leisurely stroll along the shore, to stop and search amongst the rock pools, to traverse Tarbet Glen to Loch Morar or to undertake the more challenging prospect of one of the area’s Munros or spectacular ridge walks; the stunning mountainscape surrounding Kylesmorar is impossible to resist.
Coming back across the loch after a three hour hike and seeing the thin column of smoke from the chimney and knowing that soon we’d be warm and cosy by the fire was the highlight of our trip.
For the less energetic, take time to enjoy a long lie and a leisurely breakfast before taking a walk down to the shore to search for shellfish for your lunch.
Getting up early, pulling on wellies and going down to the shore with a bucket to gather clams for lunch seemed such a treat.
During your stay you will be offered a scheduled boat trip to Stoule, Camusrory or the village of Inverie (where you’ll find the most remote pub in Britain and no public roads). All of these destinations serve as starting points to some lovely walks.
However you choose to spend your time at Kylesmorar, we’re sure that it will be an unforgettable experience.
